چکیده

The impacts of core count/layout on the mode effective refractive index ( $${n}_{\mathrm{eff}}$$ ), bend- and twist-induced differential group delay (DGD) different cores, worst-case DGD, intercore DGD $${\mathrm{DGD}}_{\mathrm{IC}}$$ in weakly coupled homogeneous multicore fibers (WC-HMCFs), have been analyzed to select proper layout with low value for a particular count. counts such as 3-core, 4-core, 6-core, 12-core layouts namely linear, triangular, square, rectangular, circular one ring structure (ORS), dual (DRS), hexagonal ORS, square lattice (SLS) considered investigation. Moreover, order calculate values, generalized expressions pitch (Λ) derived. Further, radius $$a$$ relative difference $$\Delta$$ Λ levels 3-core WC-HMCFs, linear triangular layouts, numerically by using finite element method-based FemSIM simulation platform, MATLAB. It is observed that certain count value, significant levels, while variations values no impact levels. increase normally increases all layouts. On other hand, fixed count, cladding diameter (D), outer thickness (OCT), which has lowest leads , compared investigations carried out this work may provide guidelines MCF applications, MCF-based multi-parameter sensing signal processing microwave photonics.

Ultrasensitive vector bending sensor based on multicore optical fiber.

In this Letter, we demonstrate a compellingly simple directional bending sensor based on multicore optical fibers (MCF). The device operates in reflection mode and consists of a short segment of a three-core MCF that is fusion spliced at the distal end of a standard single mode optical fiber. The asymmetry of our MCF along with the high sensitivity of the supermodes of the MCF make the small be...

Twisting and bending stress in DNA minicircles.

The interplay between bending of the molecule axis and appearance of disruptions in circular DNA molecules, with ∼100 base pairs, is addressed. Three minicircles with different radii and almost equal contents of AT and GC pairs are investigated. The DNA sequences are modeled by a mesoscopic Hamiltonian which describes the essential interactions in the helix at the level of the base pair and inc...

Differential birefringence in Bragg gratings in multicore fiber under transverse stress.

We present experimental measurements of the peak splitting of the reflection spectra of fiber Bragg gratings as a result of birefringence induced by transverse loading of a multicore fiber. Measurements show that the splitting is a function of the applied load and the direction of the load relative to the azimuth of the fiber. A model for calculating the stress in the fiber that is due to an ap...
